The cooling system of the engine is divided into air cooling and water cooling. The cooling system that uses air as the cooling medium is called the air cooling system; the cooling system that uses the cooling liquid as the cooling medium is called the water cooling system.


The cooling system of the automotive engine is a forced circulation water cooling system, that is, the water pump is used to increase the pressure of the cooling liquid, and the forced cooling liquid circulates in the engine. The cooling system is mainly composed of a water pump, a radiator, a cooling fan, a compensation water tank, a thermostat, a water jacket in the engine block and the cylinder head, and accessory devices.

In the cooling system, there are actually two cooling cycles: one is the main cycle for cooling the engine, and the other is the heating cycle in the car. Both cycles are centered on the engine and use the same coolant.


In the entire cooling system, the cooling medium is the coolant, and the main components are thermostat, water pump, water pump belt, radiator, cooling fan, water temperature sensor, storage tank, and heating device (similar to radiator).
